Inga From the distillery which comes first on any list, built by Dewar’s 101 years ago. This example is a ‘cracker’, but simple and straightforward. Pale gold in colour, with an initial light pastry nose, then wild-flowers and some solvent and white pepper. With water, Spangles spring to mind, and the white pepper remains. Appetising and carrying on to a pleasantly sweet, well-balanced, clean flavour, with a hint of aniseed in the finish, it would make a grand aperitif.
