| Mina kommentarer: En bra standardutgåva. Den får en hård match på min Islay provning. |

| My first dram of the evening was the Bruichladdich 15yo (46%, OB, Bottled +/- 2003 on Islay).
They boast about the fact that this was bottled on Islay, but that hardly seems like a meaningful innovation, does it? Nose: Softly sweet. Cookies. Hint of coconut? Then subtle sherry notes emerge. A few minutes later it gains more coastal notes. Organics. Yes, definite improvement! Taste: Hmmm. Rough. Sweet & sour burn. Coffee? Hint of smoke? Dry. gritty. Hot. While the nose was improving the palate was deteriorating. Eucalyptus? Fruity finish. Score: 77 points. That's two points more than my initial score of 75. Breathing really helps to unlock the organics in the aroma. It's much more powerful than the 'old' 15yo OB's. That's usually a good thing, but in this case I prefer the subtleties of the 'old' new Bruichladdichs that were bottled in 2001 and 2002. Strange.... |
COLOUR: Warm honey / golden syrup. BODY: Medium weight, the texture is smooth but powerful. NOSE: Distinctive and intriguing, it opens slowly, then picks up beautiful aromas of fresh flowers, heather and yellow gorse. Wait a little and you will find fudge, crème brûlée, dried banana and a snap of sherry. PALATE: A real honest old style whisky flavour is immediately apparent. Lots of sweet malt, digestive biscuits, butterscotch, tropical fruit. Lashings of oak and a sprinkle of sea spray and dry seaweed remind you of its 15 years maturing by the ocean. Islay without the hammer. Full of style and sophistication. FINISH: It lingers gently on the palate. |
