The Chichibu Distillery was built in Saitama Prefecture during 2007 by Ichiro Akuto of Venture Whisky.
Production began in February 2008 using washbacks made of Japanese Oak, and copper stills produced by Forsyths of Rothes.
Small quantaties of this "newborn" spirit are now available to whisky enthusiasts around the world. Having been stored in a bourbon barrel for 4 months after distillation this spirit has now been bottled at cask strength. The journey to the finished Chichibu Single Malt has only just begun, but we hope that you will savour this first step on a long road.
