And then Maarten, my guest, arrived. Final rating of the Scapa would have to wait until the next session.
Maarten brought a Glengoyne 10yo (40%, OB, 70cl) with him; we decided to taste it head-to-head with the
Glengoyne 12yo (43%, OB, 70cl) from my collection. For reference, we put a Glendullan 8yo (40%, OB, 70cl)
next to them. Wow! Time hasn't been kind to the Gledullan. The original score of the fresh bottle was 74,
but now the bottle's nearly empty it has lost a part of it's bouquet and it would rate around 72 points.
The Glengoyne 12, on the other hand, seemed to have improved considerably. It has been a few months since
I last tasted it; the different components of the rich aroma were more balanced, and the taste had become a
tad softer. The original rating was 73; this one would rate 74 points. I'm curious how this one develops further. |
